Shoe Burn, named after the historic bubbling stream where women once cleansed their feet after crossing the wet moors barefoot, is set on the grand first floor of Lews Castle, accessible via a lift and a few steps.
This spacious and light-filled apartment features an open-plan living, kitchen, and dining area, offering views of Stornoway harbour and the castle's main entrance.
Decorated in a chic and modern palette, the fully equipped kitchen flows seamlessly into the stylish living space with a comfortable corner sofa.
The adjacent bedroom provides a snug retreat with a large, inviting bed and a double wardrobe.
Due to the castle's unique architecture, the bedroom windows overlook the castle roof.
The en-suite bathroom boasts a powerful shower and dual "his and hers" sinks, ensuring both style and practicality. Embracing the Victorian heritage of the grand building, these accommodations incorporate contemporary features that ensure an unforgettable stay.

Shoeburn is not a pet-friendly apartment. Rooms and apartments are not serviced and amenities not replenished during your stay, unless specifically requested and paid for. Our properties at Lews Castle have bespoke check-in times, that reflect the unique nature of the site, and how it's operated.
Lews Castle welcomes guests to check-in daily between 4pm -9pm. Any arrivals outside of these designated hours will incur a mandatory early or late -arrival fee of £50. This can be pre-booked at the time of making your reservation.

We spent a wonderful week in an apartment in Lews Castle Stornoway. The apartment was very spacious, light and with high ceilings as befits a castle. Its location was excellent, in extensive grounds and in walking distance of Stornoway. It also had views of the harbour. We could watch ferries and cruise ships come in and out.
